How to Remove Vocals from a Song
Now, let’s learn how to remove vocals from songs.
Step by Step Procedure
- So, obviously first step is going to be downloading the audacity software. You can go to their website www.audacityteam.org and under download button, choose the operating system you are running, and download the app.
- After downloading install the app.
So, now that you have installed the Audacity software and opened it, you have to add your audio file of the song, from which you want vocals to be removed.
For adding the file, you can either drag the audio file into Audacity, or click the import button under file menu and select Audio. From here, you can browse to the audio file, select it and click open.
After, importing the audio file, next step is to remove the vocals. For this you can select a portion of the song or the entirety of song.
For selecting the full song, either press CTRL+A or click on All under Select Menu.
Now, to remove the vocals, you have two options:
One is effect called Vocal Reduction and Isolation, which also works and can give you good results, but it is primarily focused on isolating the vocals, rather than removing it. So i suggest you do not use this option.
The best option is to choose the Vocal Remover Effect, that is also under Effects Menu.
After Clicking this, you will see this settings menu.
By Default, the value of Frequency Band From is set at 20 Hertz. But i recommend you lower it down to 5 Hz to get the best result.
However, you can play with it and get the desired result you need.
So, after deciding the Frequency Band, Click OK. Wait for second or two for Audacity to apply the vocal remover effect, and that is it.
Click on Play button to play the song to see the results. If you don’t like what you hear, tweak the Frequency Bands until you are satisfied.
There will still be little sound of vocals in the song, but that is of too low volume.
Once done, Click Export under File Menu and export the audio file without any vocals in it, to your desired location.
So that was how you can remove vocals from a song, free of cost with a simple software.
